Chapter 24

JAXON

“Look at the TITS on this one, eh?!” Victor Black wheezes pointing to the topless girl dancing on the bar below the VIP Loft.

He laughs as he puffs on his cigar. “Turned eighteen a week ago. An hour up in the cage, and the dogs are already drooling.”

Ivan, Victor’s “number two,” licks his lips and barks at her, mimicking the desperate men down on the dancefloor.

I shake my head. I have no interest in naked strip club women, or in strip clubs, for that matter. The lights, the music and the smell of Black’s cigar are giving me a headache.

I am too old for this shit anymore.

I take a sip of the drink I ordered, and then immediately spit it back into my glass.

“What the fuck? Victor, are you still watering down your booze?” I say, after taking a handkerchief from Levi. “This tastes like shit.”

“Gotta make a dollar where I can.” Black says shrugging and finally turning his gaze away from the stripper and back to me.

"I'm not a customer."

"Not anymore." He says with a grin. “Speaking of, where is my missing product?”

“The last shipment is secure, with all product intact.” I say lighting a cigarette and inhaling. “However, the missing product from the first shipment is still that-MISSING.”

“So, when am I-” Black starts to ask, but I cut him off.

“You will get reimbursement when we are done looking for it.” I snap. “My men are on it. They will get to the bottom of it.”

“It had better be soon. I have needy customers, you know.”

He rolls his eyes and checks out the ass of the waitress bringing him another drink.

"In the meantime…” I continue, reaching into my jacket pocket for

an envelope. However, this simple action causes all three of Black’s men, as well as all four of my men to put their hands on their holsters by instinct.

“Relax.” I say as I pull out the envelope and toss it on the table in front of Black.

He stares at it for a moment, then at me, before reaching for it.

“HAHA, Boss, she’s twerkin’!” Ivan, the giant orangutan interrupts, practically foaming at the mouth.

A couple of Black’s men forget their posts and move to get a better look, their priorities changed. There is a cheer from below us, howls of delight echo through the packed club.

“You should take a look, Jackie-Boy. Hasn’t it been a while for you?” Black sneers with a wink.

“Not that long.” I say with a smile.

“Oh, that’s right, I forgot…This always was your type.”

He grins wickedly at me, and I fight the urge to punch him for that crack, as I know he is talking about Rachel. He knows Rachel was a stripper before we met. Something not uncommon in our world, as men who live the way we do, can end up spending a lot of time in places like this.

Back in the day, Rachel's family had been one of the original mafia families in Chicago and they controlled all the clubs and bars in this section of the Midwest.
